The noise was described as, like someone sawing the leg off a table or cutting up a large tree with a chain saw.
We also received complaints from local residents living as far away as Shincliffe and Bowburn, who said that many of their children refused to leave the safety of their homes and no amount of telling them would convince them that the bogey man did not exist and was not living in the woods.

After considerable investigation by the Teesside DA committee the source of the noise was established.
It appears it was a large Gnome like creature, believed to be a roaming Gnome, who after devouring half a cow from one of the local farms, or several small children, retires to his lair and sleeps it off.

The committee put themselves at great risk to get photographic evidence of this fearsome phenomenon.
The subject is believed to be dangerous when hungry, but can be subdued given enough lager
